I’m Alex, the co-blogger on this culinary adventure. I have been cooking for more than half my life now and love the work that goes in it. I am very happy about the course of this co-op and to be the prime recipient of all of Eleta’s wonderful meals.
In my professional life, I specialize in making things better (something I hope I bring to the kitchen as well). I work in Downtown Development here in Macon, being co-employed by Macon-Bibb County and the Urban Development Authority. After wanting to be a professional philosopher, I decided I should add a little more praxis to my life and decided the best place to better people’s lives is in local government and economic development. It is a simple and pure joy to know that everyday my job is to answer the question of how to make things better in the city that I love.
In the kitchen, I like going off-book and tweaking recipes to my taste. I think that like speed-limit signs, recipes are simply suggestions on how to best get to your destination. I apologize now for the all-too-inexact recipes I might provide here.
When it comes to cooking, my pride and joy is the Big Green Egg. In the last year I have learned to BBQ and produced some of the best ribs, burgers, wings, and pulled pork I have ever had thanks to this wonderful device. I will be sure to share some tricks of the trade with you.
